Terms & Conditions...

ASSESSMENT OF WORKS & ESTIMATES...

  1. We do not charge for quotations/estimates for domestic refurbishment projects. A non-chargeable estimate includes;  time, travel expenses, measurements, phone calls and emails.

  2. An upfront charge of £80.00 is made for all insurance quotations. Should THKC Ltd undertake the subsequent work upon instruction of the insurance company, this charge will be discounted from your final invoice amount.

  3. We will provide a 'reasonable amount' of non-chargeable visit(s) to your premise to conduct the necessary assessment to enable us to give you an estimate of costs.

  4. You are asked to ensure sufficient space and access is available for our measurements to be taken.

  5. Photographs will be taken of relevant areas/units/appliances/installations/rooms etc. These may be used for the estimate process and may be used on our website, social media or online image gallery at anytime in the future.

  6. If ‘invasive’ work or specialist advice is needed to enable an estimate to be made (ie; building surveyor, Local Authority Building Control etc), then an estimate for this will be provided prior to any works being conducted. Payment for specialist advice must be made in full, up-front, directly to the provider and not via THKC Ltd.

  7. You (the customer) are responsible for checking and applying for any permission(s) needed for your project. These may include, but are not limited to, planning permission, building regulations consent, listed building consent, tenancy agreements, party-wall agreements, etc. We will need to inspect any relevant documentation regarding these before we agree to any works being undertaken.

  8. Our estimates will only be supplied in writing and will be sent via email to an email address supplied by the customer. We will not honour any verbal quotation or agreement unless subsequently confirmed in writing.

  9. The written estimate will be based upon our findings and measurements taken at the time of our visit. We will not be held responsible for any errors or differences caused by alterations to the premise/measured area(s) following the measurements being taken.

  10. Your requirements/specification will be included within the estimate wherever possible provided that these are specified at the time of our visit or subsequent visit to our showroom

  11. Please note that we will only provide an estimate. Should any unforeseen matters arise during the course of the supply or installation, these will be discussed with you at the time and the estimate adjusted accordingly.

  12. An estimated timescale for completion of work will be given, with a list of proposed dates to be on-site. However, we cannot be held responsible for any delays due to out of stock items, delivery errors, weather conditions, unsafe working conditions outside of our control, illness or any other unforeseen circumstances.

  13. Any adjustments to an estimate will be confirmed via email to you.

  14. All estimates are valid for a period of 30 days from date of submission and are not valid after 31st December of any year.

  15. Dates of work/installation will only be confirmed upon payment of a deposit as detailed in Section B below.

  16. Estimates are only deemed to have been ‘accepted’ by both parties upon payment of a deposit and/or in full payment, and THKC Ltd are in receipt of a signed acceptance form from the client.

  17. If a THKC T&C agreement has been signed, this estimate remains accurate unless;

  18. Third party suppliers’ costs are adjusted beyond our control.

  19. Unforeseen work or circumstances arise during the course of your project.

  20. You, the customer requests changes or additions to the supply/design/layout of your project.

  21. In the event of any of the above, you will be informed and given options to cancel or choose alternative product(s).

PAYMENT...​

  1. If the supplied estimate is deemed to be satisfactory, we require the customer to complete the T&C Acceptance form online. This confirms there is an agreed contract of works between the customer and THKC Ltd.

  2. An invoice will be emailed to you requesting;

    1. For ‘Installation only’ or ‘Supply & Installation’ services, a non-refundable deposit of 75% of the total estimate value. This payment is to be forwarded in time for bank funds to clear a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the planned commencement of works (or earlier if requested due to supply lead-times).

    2. For ‘Supply only’ services, full payment of the estimate value is required before any goods will be supplied. Upon receipt of payment, we will confirm delivery timescales of the required goods.

  3. Payment in full of any outstanding balance is required upon completion of the work as specified in the estimate. A final balance invoice will be sent within 5 days of completion.

  4. All invoices are to be paid in full by the date stated on your invoice.

  5. Payment can be made by electronic bank transfer (preferred method) or cheque.

  6. BACS details will be given on your invoice.

  7. Cheques should be posted to us or can be collected in person. Cheques are to be made payable to ‘The Hertfordshire Kitchen Company Ltd’.

  8. Cash payments can be accepted.

  9. We cannot currently accept payments by debit/credit cards.

  10. All payments are to be made in GBP Sterling.

  11. Receipts will be generated and emailed to you for all financial transactions.

KITCHENS - SUPPLY ONLY...​

  1. The term ‘kitchen’ refers to non-electrical/gas powered fittings (i.e. carcasses, doors, plinths, cornice/mouldings, worktops, upstands, shelving, storage solutions, sinks, taps, plumbing accessories, handles etc).

  2. Kitchens will only be supplied upon payment being received as stated in section 2 above.

  3. Kitchen carcasses may be supplied fully or partially constructed and doors/drawerfronts may not be pre-drilled for handles. 

  4. A kitchen will require a degree of trade knowledge and specialist tools in order to complete its construction and installation. Please ensure your are able to undertake this work or have suitably qualified tradespersons to undertake the work on your behalf. We would be pleased to quote for this aspect of work for you.

  5. No installation, or part thereof, of the kitchen will be undertaken by THKC Ltd unless previously agreed and paid for as per Section 5 below.

  6. THKC Ltd take no responsibility for errors or omissions in measurements taken/supplied or specifications detailed by yourself or a third-party.

  7. THKC Ltd will make every effort to supply your chosen style/quantity/items etc at a time that suits you. THKC Ltd take no responsibility for delays, errors or omissions made by our suppliers. THKC Ltd will of course attempt to rectify any issues that may arise.

  8. Your kitchen design/layout and parts list will be confirmed with you prior to ordering. Any customer-led changes after this agreement may incur additional charges or changes to delivery timescales.

  9. The availability of products remains strictly with our trade suppliers and it should be understood that product ranges change on a regular basis. You should ensure you order all the items that you need to complete your project.

  10. Once your order has been placed, it is not possible to alter your order. You will be expected to receive the delivery as agreed.

  11. Every effort will be made to supply your kitchen in one delivery, however, there may be occasions where this is not possible. Where this does occur, we will contact you with further details.

  12. Items for return will only be accepted under the following circumstances;

    1. Items received in a damaged condition from the delivery driver. Damaged items must be annotated on the delivery note at the time of receipt and reported to THKC Ltd within 24hours.

    2. Faulty items – where these are fitted in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines/instructions and fall within the manufacturers warranty period.

    3. Items received were not ordered as detailed within your agreement with THKC Ltd.

  13. No warranty or compensation is offered for the removal or reinstallation of warranty items should they need to be returned in accordance with 3.12 above.

  14. No return or refund will be given in the event of a ‘change of mind’ following confirmation of your order.

  15. In the event of a return, please contact THKC Ltd to discuss arrangements.

  16. Please note the delivery terms listed in section 8 below.

 

ACCESSORIES - SUPPLY ONLY...​

  1. The term ‘accessories’ referrers to electrical/gas powered appliances (i.e. ovens, hobs, fridges, freezers, microwaves, etc.) and other 'non-furniture' items.

  2. Accessories should be installed/fitted and commissioned in accordance with the manufacturers instructions and conforming to current regulations, particularly in relation to the installation of electrical/gas domestic appliances. You should ensure you have suitably qualified tradespersons to undertake this work on your behalf. THKC take no responsibility for the statutory requirements for installation of an appliance if supplied under this section.

  3. Accessories will only be supplied upon payment being received as stated in section B above.

  4. Accessories will be supplied in manufacturers packaging. THKC will not be responsible for the unpacking and/or disposal of packaging under this agreement. Please ensure your packaging is disposed of responsibly and recycled where possible.

  5. No installation, or part thereof, of any supplied accessory will be undertaken or arranged by THKC Ltd unless previously agreed and paid for as per Section E below.

  6. THKC Ltd take no responsibility for errors or omissions in measurements taken/supplied or specifications detailed by yourself or a third-party.

  7. Specification of an accessory should be confirmed in writing utilising the full manufacturers model number, colour, size, and any other distinguishing feature.

  8. THKC Ltd will make every effort to supply your chosen style/quantity/items etc at a time that suits you. THKC Ltd take no responsibility for errors or omissions made by our suppliers. THKC Ltd will of course attempt to rectify any issues that may arise.

  9. Your chosen accessory(ies) will be confirmed with you prior to ordering. Any customer-led changes after this agreement may incur additional charges or changes to delivery timescales.

  10. The availability of goods remains strictly with our suppliers and it should be understood that models and product ranges change on a regular basis. You should ensure you order all the items that you need to complete your project.

  11. Once your order has been confirmed, it is not possible to alter or cancel your order. you will be expected to receive the delivery as agreed.

  12. Every effort will be made to supply your accessories in one delivery, however, there may be occasion where this is not possible. Where this is necessary, we will contact you with further details.

  13. Items for return will only be accepted under the following circumstances;

KITCHENS - INSTALLATION...​

  1. PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THAT YOU WILL BE WITHOUT ANY KITCHEN FACILITIES FOR THE DURATION OF THE INSTALLATION… YOU WILL HAVE TO MAKE ALTERNATIVE ARRANGEMENTS FOR WASHING UP, COOKING AND FOOD PREPARATION DURING THIS TIME.

  2. THKC will make every effort to maintain a supply of hot and cold running water somewhere in the property, however, it may be necessary to isolate these supplies for a period in order to amend the plumbing for your new kitchen.

  3. You will agree to provide unrestricted access to the relevant areas of the property during the hours 8am-6pm Monday to Saturday – unless otherwise agreed.

  4. THKC are able to hold a set of keys for the property if it is agreed.

  5. There must be an uninterrupted supply of 240v domestic power to the relevant area(s). If the power is governed by a ‘pay-as-you-go’ meter, then sufficient funds should be left available for the duration of the work. If this is not possible, an additional charge may be incurred to hire generator(s) for the period of the installation.

  6. You must ensure that the stopcocks for hot & cold water are known, accessible and usable. If this is not the case, additional charges may be incurred to rectify this.

  7. You must ensure your electrical distribution board (fuse board/consumer unit) is known, accessible, clearly labelled and useable. If this is not the case, additional charges may be incurred to rectify this.

  8. Your kitchen should be completely emptied of personal belongings, food, crockery etc. by 08:00hrs on the first day of work. Any items left in the kitchen may be inadvertently damaged and/or disposed of.

  9. Existing fixtures that you wish to keep/re-use should be clearly identifiable. They may still need to be removed, so storage space for them to be kept separate from the refuse should be made available.

  10. Appliances should not be used after 07:00 hrs on the first day of work. This allows for ovens and hobs to cool, etc.

  11. All areas needed for access to services/utilities such as cupboards, airing cupboards, storage areas etc. will need to be sufficiently cleared of personal belongings prior to commencement of works. (if we need access to the loft, we will require access to the services only – no need to completely empty it!!)

  12. Your kitchen will be unusable during this time – please do not attempt to use any of the appliances, sink or tap unless you have been told they are correctly installed, commissioned, convenient and safe to use.

  13. Please do not place items within cupboards/shelves/fridge etc unless agreed with us beforehand. .

  14. At any point until handover, you agree to not install, adjust, remove, repair, replace or dispose of any item within the working or storage area(s) unless agreed by our fitter.

  15. At any point until handover, you must inform our fitter if there is any damage to your kitchen, workspace, room or fittings – however caused.

  16. Space will be needed to accept the delivery of your new kitchen. We will advise of a suitable location and approximate space needed before works commence. This space must be cleared before 07:00hrs on the expected day of delivery.

  17. Should utilities need amendment, renewing, re-routing, this will be completed by suitably qualified engineer. This may be arranged by THKC by prior agreement and will be undertaken at a time convenient to the project. During these times, it is likely there will be interruptions to your services in the property. We will advise of approximate times and durations should this be necessary. Please ensure you're not reliant upon power (Wi-Fi, TV recordings, medical equipment etc) during these periods.

  18. The removal and installation of a new kitchen creates an inherent amount of dust and rubbish. This will be kept to a minimum and disposed of by a suitable means. We will need suitable internal or external space for cutting, sanding and carcass/worktop preparation.

  19. During working hours, specified areas may have restricted access. Please -  No children or pets are permitted into the kitchen or other working areas whilst our fitters are working.

  20. Please respectfully note; Our fitters are pet owners but not pet-sitters. Please do not expect our fitters to feed, monitor, exercise or clear up after your pets (trust us – it’s more common than you’d think!!)

  21. At the end of the day, we will tidy and clean as far as necessary to ensure your home is safe and can be used to the extent of the facilities available. Out-of-bounds areas will be advised.

  22. Some tools and goods may be left at your property between working times. These must not be used, moved, adjusted or taken (stolen or borrowed).

  23. We will not be held liable for any costs associated with the lack of, or limitation of kitchen facilities during the installation. This includes, but is not limited to; eating out/take-away’s, external laundry services, purchase of bottled water, domestic cleaning, rental of heaters or cooking facilities etc.

  24. Any changes made during the installation, will be done in accordance with Section 1.

  25. You must inform us of any allergies within the household. On occasion, we will use paints, solvents, sealants etc which may include aggravating ingredients. We cannot be held responsible for any reactions caused by the use or storage of these goods if we are not informed.

  26. At the completion of the installation, you will be required to complete an online sign-off form following your hand-over. This should be done with THKC staff present.

ACCESSORIES - INSTALLATION...​

  1. Appliances will only be installed, connected, tested and commissioned by suitably qualified engineers.

  2. New appliances will only be installed to manufacturers instructions.

  3. Appliances will only be installed to utility services that conform to current standards and regulations. If these need amendment/upgrade, it will be quoted for separately.

  4. Please do not ask us to install appliances outside of safety, legal requirements or manufacturers guidelines – it will not be undertaken.

  5. If re-installing an old/existing/used appliance, this will only be done if the appliance is deemed safe and appropriate for the installation. The relevant engineer will make this decision which may involve additional testing of the appliance and an associated cost.

  6. Appliances must not be used until handed-over to you by the engineer or our fitter.

  7. Once handed-over, THKC will not be held responsible for any further adjustment, cleaning, maintenance or servicing of any appliance unless covered under section 4.13 above.

  8. New appliance instruction manuals and any spare parts/fittings will be given to you at the time of hand-over.

OTHER WORKS...​

  1. THKC may undertake other services as detailed on your estimate in order to complete your project.

  2. Sufficient space shall be made available for us to undertake the relevant work.

  3. We will not be held liable for any costs associated with the lack of, or limitation of domestic facilities during the work.

DELIVERIES & MATERIALS/SITE STORAGE...​​

  1. You will be advised in-person or by phone, text or email of delivery dates/times as soon as they are available.

  2. Items may be delivered to our showroom or be delivered directly to the address where the installation is booked – this will be pre-arranged before ordering and confirmed as soon as it is known.

  3. By prior negotiation, arrangements will be made whereby THKC staff, a sub contractor, you (the customer), or a trusted person nominated by you, is available to accept the goods.

  4. All deliveries will require checking and a signature.

  5. Please ensure deliveries can be placed in a dry, safe area such as indoors, garage, outdoor shed/summerhouse etc. All parcels/packages, however well packaged, should be protected from the elements in order to eliminate the risk of water damage.

  6. You shall advise THKC of any restrictions that would affect delivery of items. these may include, but are not limited to; staircases, narrow doorways, shared access, vehicular height/weight restrictions, parking restrictions etc.

  7. Some deliveries will be heavy. THKC will not expect the customer to assist in the lifting/unloading of deliveries. Wherever possible, the delivery team and/or THKC will undertake this work.

  8. Items will need to be placed where they cannot fall, damage, spill etc.

  9. Mutual efforts shall be made to ensure the security of the site/store/property to minimise the risk of theft/damage to goods stored.

 

WARRANITES...​​

  1. Manufacturers' standard warranties apply to all goods supplied.

  2. The customer is responsible for warranty registration(s) where required and the necessary paperwork will be left/handed over to you at a suitable time.

  3. Extended warranties are the sole responsibility of the customer

  4. Any warranty claim should in the first instance be referred to the 'helpline' number supplied on your paperwork.

  5. Kitchen furniture warranties apply to the original purchaser/occupier of the property when purchased/installed. The warranty will not transfer to new ownership upon the sale of a property.
